I see in the tag quotas online the private land tags. Who can apply for these tags? Anybody with permission to hunt on private land and do you have to prove it with a landowner or anything? Tks nwhunter

LAST EDITED ON Feb-14-07 AT 06:02AM (MST)[p]Actually, the landowner applies for a voucher. They can then give/sell these vouchers to a hunter who then turns them in and purchases a license. The problem is finding out who has the vouchers becuase there is not a list and the DOW won't tell you.

I am writing the DOW and asking them why they don't just put a box on the application for landowner vouchers that say the landowner gives permision to list their name/contact info on the DOW website. It gets the liability off the DOW and allows the landowner free advertizing. If they don't want to do it, they simply don't check the box. Seems like that would be a simple solution.

The ones that they list as private land tags are offered to anyone who wants to put in for them. and you do not have to prove you have permission, but these permits are good for private land only......but can be a great way to draw a good permit with less points, if you have a place lined up to hunt!!!

Thanks beartrap thats what I thought as they aren't vouchers but actual tags as far as I could tell but just for private and like you said better odds. Tks nwhunter

Txhunter58,

That's a darned good idea. And it would solve
the problem that is going to raise it's ugly head
this year with the new rules. As with many things that
make sense however, I doubt they'll go for it.
Go figure.

Northwesthunter: I guess it was too early in the morning. Should have waited for my second cup of coffee. I forgot about the PLO app codes. Thanks to Bear for straightening me out.

lve2143: Seems like a good idea to me. That has been the only reason that landowners have needed brokers because there was no registry on who has them. Although, they may get thousands of calls if they post their name......
