First animal with a bow

I went on my first archery elk hunt down here in Arizona this year. I had gotten drawn for 6A bull.I was sitting a tank that didn't have to much sign, but I figured something might come in. I had sat there for probably 45 minutes, and was about to fall asleep, when out of the corner of my eye i saw something. What I saw was the tail of a 120 pound female mountain lion at twenty yards. I couldn't get a shot because she had crouched so low while she was drinking, but then she stopped and started angling away from the tank coming my way. I drew my bow and she stopped and looked at me at eight yards. I released and she jumped straight in the air. I found her the next day two hundred yards from the tank.

8 yards, a little too close for comfort for me! Congratulations on your first bow kill!

Wow, DB that's pretty impressive. I'm afraid that a big cat at 8yds. would cause me to wanna wash my drawers!! Are you gonna get it mounted? Post some pictures? Congrats on your "First"!!! :D

That is too cool. Please post some pics...I would enjoy seeing them, especially of dead kitties...

Man, that had to have been an exciting experiance. My dad always carries a lion tag along with him. I personaly have never seen a wild one, but the tracks are all arounf were I hunt. I hope to someday, just maybe a little farther away then 8 yards. Congrats! I would like to see those pics as well, also how did the elk hunt go?

My Dad shot a spike on the second to last day, and I missed an oppurtunity on a 6x6 bull at 6:00 the last day of the hunt, He was at 63 yards, and I couldn't get any closer. I will post the pictures as soon as I figure out how.
