I'm from Western Oregon and would like to try hunting whitetails and I know Idaho has some real good ones. I'm an archery hunter and was wondering if there were any opportunities to hunt Idaho whitetails later in the fall during the rut or later. I hunt here during September and want to find a later hunt to help break up the year too. Can anyone tell me anything about Idaho Whities?

Thanks

Jeez, the secrets really out when it comes to whitetails in Idaho. And you're right, Whitetail hunting is off the hook here in Idaho. You can by a OTC tag and be hunting good bucks smack in the middle of the rut. Basically, North Idaho is lousy with whities. And when i say north I mean anywhere North of Riggins. Most of those hunts run till November 20th. Some of the more northern units run into December. In most years, hard rutting activity starts around the second week of November. if you want anything more specific, lets communicate privately. But really, It's pretty straightforward. Find yourself a canyon or draw somewhere up North and chances are you'll find whitetails. If you can beg, borrow, or steal your way on to private land around agriculture, so much the better. Good luck!
