Draw results

Website license page looks different, something happening?
Maybe they're up to something.

Maybe just looks different bcause I'm on a tablet, I dunno? Looks different

I'm thinking late today maybe but more likely Monday, and I am solely basing those assumptions off of other results timing the last couple of years

Won't be long now! Less than 5% odds on my picks...gonna need some luck! Just a few more hours till we know I guess?

They are all probably setting in one of the big offices eating donuts and drinking coffee and laughing. While we are checking the draw results page every 30 minutes

You know that's probably closer to the truth then not.

I just hope they give the tags to the person that checks for the draw the most that way I'm golden?

Does the back door still work these days???
I haven't checked, at least I think I know how to check the back door??

Chuck in Boise

>how to you check it through
>the "back door"?

The backdoor hasn't worked for a while but you used to be able to go to "Buy Licenses" and you would see a license number in your application history before it was posted to the "Results" page.

If you go in to purchase a tag, the options will show "SP" for one of them, that's a Special Permit that you drew.

Are you guys seeing a license number next to your controlled hunt application in purchase history? I see a license number that does not match my actual license number. In the past, I've tried to purchase a tag and that's how I got through the backdoor....

Yes, there is a 12 digit number in XXX-XX-XXXXXX format that doesn't match your actual license #. I believe this is just your application number assigned when you applied.

I bet they are waiting until they close up last one out the door hits enter on the computer!! That way they do not need to listen to all the phone call complaints until in the morning...

Good logic, but last year they released them on a Monday. So we still have hope.

I honestly don't understand what takes idaho so long with it being just a straight random draw. Pretty sure I could download a Random number generating app and have it out by June 7th.

Everyone gets to keep hope a little longer til their dream of drawing a great tag gets crushed by reality. Except for me, I plan to draw my tags with 5% odds haha

I heard today that it will be early next week. Longer to implement this year due to some extra hoops and/or extra oversight.

At least I won't keep checking every half hour!

Thanks for the info, although I will probly still check 4 times a day!

From a retired IDFG employee who knows people on the inside still was told that the results shoulda posted on 6-21...hes now been told Thursday..who knows!

>I've lost hope for today.. hopefully
>tomorrow

That's what I was thinking the day they released trophy species results, then about 4 they were up. They like to release results around 2-3 I think

The wait really sucks for those of us trying to plan summer and fall vacations with family. They've already had to make decisions regarding extra curricular activities for school. Now we run into likely conflicts because F&G departments don't seem to care about giving their customers more latitude via time to adequately plan and make the most of their hunting opportunities.

Also learned my lesson about telling my kid the results would've most likely been early this week. Won't make that mistake again...ever.

There are some things that I'd like to see changed about the Idaho draw (not going there in this thread), but the super quick turn around time for draw results is not one of them. I apply in a lot of states and Idaho is one of the fastest turn around times. Maybe an earlier application period would be more beneficial for those who need to make plans earlier, but it's tough to complain about how quick they get results out.

I believe today marks the 14th business day since the June 5 deadline. I would assume that if IDFG decided to take away the option of submitting controlled hunt applications via hard-copy form (mail-in) then the process would be faster, but in this rural and aging state of ours, we are decades away from taking away that option. So, let's assume that IDFG was able to input every application into their system by June 13 (5 business days after the deadline - still a stretch with snail-mail and manual input) that means that to QA the data, hold the draw, work through all the IT back-end stuff, and have it post to the website without any issues (because if there were issues we would all be even more upset), we are giving them 7 business days.

All of this in the midst of what appears they are doing a website changeover to idfg.idaho.gov and as always budgets for IT staff and maneuvering resources for special projects is not easy. I would say we would be lucky to have the results by the end of the week.

I would like to start planning too...

If California can have a application deadline on June 2nd and get the results out on June 14th (7 business days) I don't see why other states sit of them for so long.

I do agree that Idaho does a pretty darn good job of getting them out pretty quickly. I also like Idaho's late application due date. It allows me to apply for and get results back from AZ (elk/lope), WY (elk), UT, NV, NM, and CO before I put in for Idaho.

I also appreciate the later application period for the same reasons plus I enjoy the applications season - picking out areas and such. It's nice to have the deadlines spread out a bit so it spreads the fun around. Good luck everyone! The results will be up soon.

If you draw you will be happy, if not you will be pissed. right now at least you have a chance so enjoy it....

I'll be happy either way, because I only put in for unlimited lopes and extra deer and elk. Already planning to hunt regular seasons anyway

I hope its today I want to get some cameras up this weekend. Just waiting to find out where they are going.

I cant believe it, I pulled a Muzzy Antelope and a Rifle Bull!!!! WOW, just WOW!!!
Would have felt lucky with ONE!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-16 AT 05:32PM (MST)[p]Nothing for me, but the boy drew two deer tags, and an antelope tag.

I was one of 116 people who didn't draw an extra doe tag with 700 tags available. As if that weren't bad enough I was one of 9 who didn't draw an extra elk tag with 175 tags available. But I did draw my unlimited archery antelope tag. Oh well I have drawn extra doe tags each of the last 2 years

LAST EDITED ON Jun-27-16 AT 08:23AM (MST)[p]First time ever drawing in like 8 years of trying. Drew 40 deer, and 40 Antelope archery. So will be spending lots of time getting to know 40.

Got the BIG HELL NO again this year that is 16 years in a row NO tags pretty Damn Sad !!

I have put in for tags in Idaho for 38 years give or take a year when I was 12 or 13. I drew 45 deer once, I drew a late 31 deer. And a hand full of elk tags. All of them have been on the easier side of the odds to draw, if not 100%. In Utah I have 20 deer points and a variety of other points, and never drew a tag. If you are putting in for 1 in a hundred chance to draw tags that is expected. If you tell me you have put in for unit 23 cow tag and never drawn then I would have some sympathy. Not a bad tag to have as I have filled all of them that I have had. So what are the odds of the tags you have put in for?

I would choose Idaho over Utah system every day of the week.

DZ

I agree with DZ, i hope Idaho doesn't go preference points. I look at all of the states that have gone that route, and i hear the same statement about point creep and and too many points, and not enough tags. One thing about Idaho,is if you don't draw, you can always buy over the counter for deer, elk, bear, lion, and wolf. If i don't draw a coveted tag,and iv'e drawn my share, i'm still hunting. My son in law got lucky this year and drew a 45 deer,48 bull, and an extra cow . My grandson and i drew cow tags. going to be a fun season, good luck to all..

Hell NO on any type of points system !! I know a lot of people that have MAX points in several states & Still can NOT draw a tag . I live in Idaho & have been putting in Every year for 41 years in those 41 years I have drawn 2 lope tags {1985 & 2000 } 1 bull tag unit 31 { 1984 } and a cow tag unit 31 ( 1988 } & one deer tag unit 40 { 1999 } That is NOT good odds by any ones standards !! I know there are people that have been putting in for more years than me . BUT I also know a lot of people that draw tags in the same units I am putting in for over & over .

For me that is the great thing about Idaho draws, I can put in for 45 deer tag and have a 2% chance to draw. Or I can put in for 31 Late deer and have an 8% chance to draw. Or look at 36B tag has less the 1% chance to draw. You can choose to put in for what ever the odds are that you want to live with. Your drawing the 31 Bull tag should be once every 36 years. But on the other hand you should draw a 31 cow tag every other year. Unit 40 buck tag should take 23 years to draw. Now these are the numbers of 2016 draw. You can look at trends from prior years to see if there is swings or an up tick or down tick. There will always be someone that is having better luck at drawing tags. I chase the numbers to see where my best chance to draw a tag is. Then I weigh out the option of the OTC tag to see which tag I would rather have. I went 0fer in the first three states I applied for this year. Then drew a lesser end Bull tag in Idaho. The numbers are there and they are what they are. You just have to decide which way is best for you. "And maybe just maybe we will learn to play this game like men." Sorry had to through in a Remember the Titans line. Hope you draw next time.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-28-16 AT 03:06PM (MST)[p]The beautiful thing about Idaho is the diversity of hunt quality that you can apply for, as mentioned above.

If you are willing to limit yourself with a bow or muzzleloader, you can literally be hunting top 20 units in the west with 15-25% draw odds. But most people are too hung up on the rifle. There's even some really fun hunts with 20-35% odds if you refuse to put down the rifle.

Look at draw odds in NV, MT or WY for their premier units as if you are a resident there. Then I think more Idaho residents would reconsider their attitude about our system.

Our system is the best thing going in my opinion. My passion is elk hunting, and i'm a meat hunter,we eat elk and whitetail almost every night,i put in my first choice for a low draw bull hunt, and my second choice for the cow. I know that i'm drawing the cow in the unit that i put in for,and so far have gotten an elk for over 30 years, i just love seeing ,eating, and hunting elk! Good luck to all this fall..

I have a buddy that lives in unit 31 between him & his wife they have drawn 31 bull tags 7 times 5 times they have drawn 31 late buck that is in the last 18 years !! I know a guy that has drawn unit 39 deer 7 times since 2000 he also has picked up 2 leftover tags !! on top of drawing 43 bull 5 times in the same time span !! I find it very hard to swallow Random .. & I know a lot more people that have drawn two to 3 times the tags that I have drawn in Less years !! Yes Idaho is great to be able to get my Yearly Hell NO & still be able to hunt maybe my luck just flat Azz SUCKS

Yes! I drew my unit 39 cow tag. As stated by many, I do my homework and put in for the tags that give me a reasonable chance to draw. I have drawn more often than not and hunted some great units for both elk and deer. Keep our system the way it is! If you want preference points, there are many states that offer them so have at it and good luck!

I got lucky and drew the 31 bull tag and the 31 late buck tag and the 22 bear tag. But then I woke up and realized I was having a dream. No draws for me this year... I did get the 31 bull tag about 5 years ago though so I cant complain.

Sweet, never been to 31 but heard great things. How'd the hunt go?

Nov/Dec Rifle cow tag for me...stoked. Daughter drew this tag last year and we filled it right on our place. Hope for a repeat.

She drew unit 5 bull moose this year... Should be a fun Fall!

Idaho has the best system in the West == NO POINTS!
