No hits yet?

I figured if I applied to NM today my card would get hit tonight or tomorrow for sure...so I filled out my app about an hour ago and now I'm just waiting to see my card get hit! Thought for sure based on the CC's getting hit last year on the 21st that it would've happened by now...they'll probably all start getting hit about 5:15 tomorrow!!

I'm in the same boat. Hopefully the system doesn't crash tomorrow when me and however many people rush to get our NM apps in. I guess that's the risk we take.

I called in yesterday, they told me that there were some snafus in the applications, and they were double checking everything. Said it would be a while before they did the drawing, maybe it was just a story they told me??

I just put in for New Mexico for elk! I figure if I draw both its just going to be a good year of hunting! Then I eat mac and cheese for the next two years!?

You have good info, word is that the drawing has not been done yet and there are problems with some applications. So it will be awhile before we see any cc hits.

I spoke with the AZDGF. I asked:

1. Is there a date when the draw results are supposed to be posted?

Answer: "No"

2. Do you know when the draw is supposed to happen?

Answer: "Hopefully in the next two to
three weeks."

I hope she was mistaken, but looks like we might have a wait on our hands. Good thing I got my NM app in.

System Consultants based out of Fallon does a great job with the Nevada draw and several other states as well. Knock on wood, but I don't think I've heard of any major issues with their draw process. Nevada - and I'm not saying AZ is a bad system - requires by law that results of the draw be posted within 48 hours of the draw. So when you add that law to the fact that System Consultants does a wonderful job, there's reliability in the process.

the regs do say that the refunds and permit-tags will be mailed out no later than April 22nd. I guess we'll just have to assume for whatever reason that something got messed up this year and the draw will take place later than it has in years past. Everything last year was 5 days earlier as far as deadlines for changing cards and tags being mailed out, so maybe the CC's will get hit 5 days later this year. I think most people were saying cards got hit on the 21st last year so maybe the 25th or 28th we'll start to see it. Lets hope it really doesn't take another 2-3 weeks, I don't think I could take waiting that long.

The longer they wait...the more time I have to dream! All in fun and I wish the best of luck to everybody (especially me).

It looks like the modify your payment portal is still open. That indicates they won't charge cards anytime soon....

They like to get the declined charges taken care of and drawing resorted due to rejected applicants before posting.

I would think that the 5% nonresident cap to the max points draw would just be changing one number on one line of code. They couldn't have messed that up? Has to be something else.

The portal has been inoperable for several weeks. I tried unsuccessfully to go in and change payment options . I spoke to a woman on the phone that said it was down and anyone with denied charges would be called and given the chance to change payment manually. Perhaps that has something to do with the delay.

you will have access to your portal and can make changes but you cannot submit the changes. That was closed on the 17th. My brother called and talked to the G&F today and they said the draw won't take place for at least another two weeks. She said they will have it done no later than a week to 10 days prior to the 22nd of April. That's the date the regulations say the permits and refunds have to be mailed out by.

I'm starting to wonder what possibly went wrong this year?? The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that they did the draw and something went wrong. Like NR's got less than 10% of the tags and now they are trying to figure out how to remedy the situation. How is it all info had to be in by Feb 9th and the last day to make changes to cards was on the 17th of March, yet they won't complete the draw until the middle of April? Something is obviously messed up with the draw this year...

Non-residents can get up to 10%, so anything less would be okay. I'm guessing there were problems with licenses and applications being accepted properly and they are calling people to get it all straightened out before they run the draw. seems like a lot of complaints about errors on licenses and apps were floating around prior to the cutoff.

That could certainly be the case, however if NR's end up with say 6-7% of the tags I can assure you it won't be "OKAY" with the vast majority. I along with all applicants understand what it means when they say "up to 10%" and I've read all the logic behind why NR's will get 10% and why they won't get any where close to it by the doom and gloomers. I'm just saying if the results come out and NR's end up with less than 10% there will be a lot of complaining about the new draw. I'm sure the F&G is well aware of the PR nightmare with NR's (especially the new ones they are trying to attract) if the allocation doesn't come out 90/10.

I think the problem with the draw is that the AZ game and fish is still scratching their heads wondering how I drew back to back unit 9 archery tags?

Best of luck to everybody when they decide to post the results.

Waiting for the results come on baby roll some good draws.
COME ON!!!!!!!

" Be patient grasshopper!"

As soon as Boquillas agreement is signed and in hand (suppose to happen this week)then draw results will be out.

Simply a good business practice by the AZGFD.

For an explanation, see my other post on waiting for a response from Director Voyles....

I think you'll see how it all makes sense, though I should add, NO ONE FROM THE DEPARTMENT HAS CONFIRMED THIS!

Good call, Don. I hope that's the holdup and that it will all be straightened out soon. Already put in for NM and I will have to put in for CO without knowing results in AZ, but the worst that could happen would be three tags! Tough problem to have.

I called the F&G this morning to ask about issues with the Client portal system, the person informed me that they were in proccess on the drawing and to try back latter, I took the opprotunity to ask again, why the delay, she was appologetic, but offered no explaination. I said when can I start checking my credit card?? She said two weeks! I think it will be earlier(I hope!) I am going to say tomorrow night(wishful thinking??)

LAST EDITED ON Mar-31-16 AT 11:49AM (MST)[p]Can you say EXPO this weekend that gets later and later each year just like the draw
results.

Just got a hit for elk...I don't know if it was my app or one of my sons...either way we are going elk hunting!

Glad to see happy hunters. Nothing for me yet, but my time will come. Good luck with the hunts - make sure to post photos.

Congrats to all who drew so far. I'm stunned that after 15 years, I have a charge for an AZ antelope tag. It is either Unit 8 muzzy, or unit 10 rifle (my 2nd choice). I will work out the Boquillas ranch permit issues later, if that's what I have to deal with.

5BS or 8 early archery bull for me and 5BS rifle bull or October unit 9 cow for my wife.

Blank, the way the AZ draw works if it isn't impossible to draw 10 as a 2nd choice it is getting pretty close. I would be sighting in a muzzleloader :)

Will be shooting it with the muzzleloader either way, but you're right, second choices don't usually work in NR's favor! I was hoping we would draw the Unit 8 late elk tag, so I could go down twice. I guess that would be greedy, wouldn't it! :)

Yep - I drew a Kaibab rifle deer tag on a second choice with 3 points last year. In Arizona, there's no difference between a first and second choice (everything else being equal) because Arizona considers both choices before moving on to the next applicant.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-02-16 AT 10:34PM (MST)[p]Guess I should be clearer. His first choice had about a 4% chance of drawing. His second was about 2%. His odds of drawing choice #1 was much greater than his second choice.
From the AZGFD's Hunt Az book...... For example, if your first choice selection had a 40 percent draw rate last year, and your second choice selection had a 60 per- cent draw rate, your odds this year are 40 percent for getting your first choice, 20 percent for getting your second choice, and 60 percent overall (assuming that the results of this year?s draw will be similar to those of the previous draw). it therefore makes little sense to ap- ply for a second choice hunt with a lower draw rate than your first choice hunt. only those hunts that did not fill with first or second choice applications are considered for third, fourth, or fth choices. erefore, only hunts with draw odds of 100 percent are good candidates for these choices

Creed: Thanks for trying to illustrate the issue. I probably didn't write down what I was thinking correctly. I know all about the odds, and have been playing the game very successfully for 40 years in many states. My first choice is always the one I want the most, and then I usually try to pick a 2nd choice hunt based on a combination of percentages and the original number of available tags for NR's.

Oh yeah, 3 more Unit 8 bull elk tags! I had forgotten we put Predator, me, and my partner in on his credit card which scored today. Shaping up to be a year that dreams are made of!!!!!

You must be living right! It does sound like a year dreams are made of. On to the deer draw!
