i have never hunted arizona and was wondering how long it takes to draw a buck mule deer tag in the kaibab, is the kaibab really as good as people say it is.

Is the Kaibab as good as people say it is? I think it depends who you talk too. Compared to how it used to be 80's-90's the Kaibab is no where near the quality of those days. It still has great scenery and provides many great memories for thousands every year, so IMO it's still worth hunting. The Kaibab early October hunt should have odds around 8.5% w/650 permits this year. For a resident I think most would draw with 4-6 pts. The Late hunt will have odds around 3.5% w/175 tags. Most probably draw with 6-9 pts. Keep in mind bonus points don't mean a whole lot if your a resident. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

Nick,
As a nonresident, one would wait a very long time for a late Kaibab or strip tag, unless one has max bonus points. Under the current system of 10% NR cap and 20% max BP set aside, the only NR being drawn for the late Kaibab and strip have max BP. Do a search for Don Martin's posts on this subject.
