Unit 51

Anyone on here have any experience or advise on unit 51 for bulls? I'm going to be hunting Idaho this year, probably the general season but putting in for the chance on the controlled hunts and wanted to know about this area. Access (public/private), terrain (is it accessable without animals) and anything else would be great!

On the westside boundary both n/w & s/w is the Lost River Range and the highest point in Idaho being Borah Peak, at 12,662 ft. It is a very rugged range but people climb it all the time. Never been on the east side so can't answer yur question on that side.
There are some here on MM who do hunt that area, so maybe they will give you some ideas if they see this post, good luck.

Any little bit of info helps - Thanks Brian! Hey, I appreciate the pictures you emailed me last summer of your trip up to the Ruby/Humboldt Range in NV. I had the 108 muzzy tag last year and we really enjoyed it, actually saw some good bucks and took a pretty one - beautiful area...

that unit is where i seen one the biggest bulls i have ever seen alive, i had the muzzleloader hunt for deer. If you draw lemme know and i can give ya some more info, i have hunted antelope in that unit a couple of times. They do have some decent bulls. Good luck on drawing.

not a problem, with luck i will be hunting my dream hunts 45 for deer, and 59 for elk, but if i dont draw and have the time i might even offer to help and head out with you. I talked to my brother he said the wolves are pretty thick in the lost river valley now, i havnt hunted there since 98, but i know in 2004 i had the desert tag, i shot at some elk and the hill started to move because there was elk every where u looked over in 51, anyways let me know how it goes.
