Has anyone hunted Tincup range in Idaho?

My family owns a cabin just across the Wyoming border in Star Valley. We pass through Tincup on our way and it alway looks like great elk country. I haven't ever talked to anyone who has hunted there and I am curious to know if it is any good.

Hunted it this year. There are a lot of elk in the area and some real nice bulls. The problem is there is also a lot of hunters and over the past several years the bulls have become bugle shy. They won't even respond to a cow call. Unless you set a trail, water or get a chance at a good stalk your experience will more than likely end in flustration. I am sure there are some good stories out there but I would not recommend it. I did manage to score on a nice 6x6 last year 260 range. If your willing to put up with the hunters and spooked elk you have found your honey hole.

I have releatives that live in Mcammon and hunt tin cup every year. Don't know why, they only get one every few years. There is 4 of them and they are on horse back too. I know there are a lot of people that hunt it, and from what I understand it is also unregulated in its off road use. If you can drive it there feel free. At least that is the attitude that I have felt in regards to vehicular travel.

If you live in Wy why would you want to hunt in Idaho? There are elk all around you there in Star Valley.

If you want to go bowhunting for elk with rifle hunting crowds go right ahead.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like everyone else thinks it looks like great elk country too. To answer BlackTimber's question, I am actually from Utah and just have a cabin in StarValley. I would love to hunt Elk and Deer around there, but I haven't drawn a tag yet. I was up there a couple weeks ago and saw a couple dandy bulls in the backs of trucks in Thayne and Afton. Every year I see nice bulls taken. My thought with Tincup was that I could just buy an Idaho archery tag, stay at my cabin, and hunt Tincup. Sounds like there is a ton of pressure and the access is too easy. Maybe it isn't such a good idea.
