Has anyone had any luck in Unit 8 for elk? I'm heading up there for the 3rd season and was just curious. I'm sitting here now jealous of everyone that has already been out this year, and I can't wait. 10 days more!!!!!!!!! Let's all hope for a little snow also! Thanks.

Csu7mm,
I'm suprised Gary is your only response. There are a few of us that live in the Fort Collins area (and hunt west of here). I hope we get snow too, the weather lately (except the last 2 days) has been ridiculous. I have been in 8 a fair amount, mostly during bow season. 1 thing is for sure, get away from the roads! Hope you dont run into many other hunters.

Green Ridge and Nunn Creek Basin are good bets for elk. Hunt high.........way high.

Where is Green Ridge and Nunn Creek? I haven't heard of either of these regions? Any tips?

He's right, stay off roads. Many orange jump suit nutheads on ATV's. Maybe try starting out somewhere around the north eastern or just eastern border of unit 8 and catch the remaining elk on there way to the Red Feather ranger district. Most importantly when hunting a heavily hunted unit like 8, HAVE FUN and enjoy the outdoors!

Huntsalone (and on foot!)

Haven't been up there ages. Green Ridge, from what I remember was just on the other side of Deadman Rd.

There was a little ditty about the Nunn Creek Basin in the latest edition of Hunting & Fishing News. Beautiful country for elk and some decent mulies.
