ELK HUNTING HOW TO BOOKS

I am interested in learning the ins and outs of Elk hunting. Anybody have any suggestions for quality reading?

check out jim zumbo's web site jimzumbo.com. i have bought several of his books and he tells it to you straight forward. also, i think most people would agree that he is a top elk hunter and you can value his opinion.

Anything written by Larry D. Jones or Dewight Shue. (sp) Buy/rent all the elk series tapes by Will Primos they make the best elk hunting videos on the market in my opinion..

Man I went the video route and it was entertaining as hell, the actual hunt with a bow was nothing like the videos LOL. I did read "All about elk" by Lapinski and Shuh and got some good ideas from that book but they hunt primarily with a bow, Jim Zumbo is a good source if you hunt elk with a rifle.

Check out Elk hunting forum's around the net for info too, but nothing is going to beat actual experience and eventual failure.

The best part of this insanity is getting into elk and getting busted and later back at home/camp figuring what you did wrong and learning what not to do and eventually improving your skills with the pay off being an elk on the ground.

Check out Mike Eastmans new book on elk. It should be available through his website Eastmans.com. He is the authority on western backcountry hunting for elk and mule deer.

I heard that Wayne Van Zwoll was coming out with a book "Elk and Elk Hunting" or something like that. I will look it up and see. If there is such a book then I will read it. Wayne is a no $#!_ guy.
