Here are three pictures that "bullscat" sent to me of his hunting partners Elk this year there in Oregon, not sure where. It was green scored at 354" and was taken by Dave Ross. It should make the Oregon top 100 list. Congrats to you Dave on a nice bull. Brett "bullscat" can fill in the info for you.

According to oldoregon, that bull will go up to 390 and be in the top 20 ever. By the way, very nice bull...Slu

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY that was supposed to be my bull, I'd say that was an Eastern Oregon bull maybe Mal River Unit/Silvies ?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-03 AT 06:37AM (MST)[p]What a sweet bull! Who poked his eyes out? Magpies? I dont want to be a d!ck, but that bull has been dead for a while. Also, how come the cape was ruined? Not planning on mounting such a pretty bull?

The bull was taken in the Murderers Creek unit of central/eastern Oregon. Dave got it on opening day. A group of us were working down various draws off a ridge near camp. Dave was just finishing some "business" in the bushes when his son in law (new to hunting) began excitedly exclaiming "elk, elk, elk!" Dave looked up on the hillside on the opposite of the draw and there were four branch antlered bulls quietly trying to slip up to the timber approximately 250-300 yards away. He said he thought he was dreaming. They must of been bedded down and thought they were hidden pretty good. But thanks to Dave's "delay", they got nervous and tried to sneak out. With britches yet to be buckled he sat down and got two shots into the bull before the disappeared into the timber. Luckily there was lots of fresh snow so the tracking wasn't too bad and Dave caught up with him for the final time about 400 yards up the draw.

The cape is fine and he is having the head mounted. The weather was well below freezing and the cape was salted right away. The pictures look a ittle sad because I was trying to find the bulls buddies each day and was not back in cap until well after dark until the last day. A couple of us passed up spikes not wanting to be out done so early in the hunt) and did see a few other branch antlered bulls, but were not a bable to catch up with them.

Even though I struck out it was fun to be part of Dave's Elkventure!

Not to put anyone down or say either of these bulls are small or whatever. So don't hear me wrong, they are both very nice bulls. BUT, Oldoregon said his buddys' bull scored (3 times with in 7/8?) around 350-354? Correct?
Now kilowatt says this one scores 350'sh and might I add he is a beauty!
I'm more apt to believe kilowatt, either that or kilowatt scored it wrong. If oldoregons is 350 then this one is like 490. You guys compare but oldoregon I really don't think ya'alls' bull is 350. Maybe 300? I don't know as I've never scored one so I am pretty ignorant in how it is done and so on.

Ok.. I am not an expert however I will say this, the 354 bull that is in question is a 8x8... his main 6x6 frame is probably in the 300 to 310 class...as everyone has been saying, but don't forget you have 2 more tines per side that probably go about 15-20 inches so you add 30 to 40 inches to the 300 to 310 frame and.... you got it... the math says a 350 bull....

BTW oldoregon... it is a beautiful bull to boot... I would hang it on my wall in a heart beat....

Makes sense! like I said I have no idea in scoring so I was curious and like I said before, both are great bulls!

DUTCH, I am not a scorer, I am only posting what was sent to me along with pictures. Both Bulls are nice and without an offical measurer doing the scoring, it is open for mistakes even if only an inch or two one way or another. The picture I posted for bullscat looks to me wider than the one posted by oldoregon, but then this too is mis-conceiving.
Congrats go out to both Dave Ross on his bull and oldoregon's cousin on two fine bulls.

these are both great bulls...I was not trying to take away or add to either just making an observation.....the thing about pictures is they can give or take away depending on how they were taken.... oldoregon's cousin's bull is just the antlers no bull or people to give anything to compare to I would love to see folks say GREAT bull and not doubt or slam folks on here... I do not have a bull on my wall thus a spike looks good to me... I have however, seen a BIG bull or 2 .... my buddies took a 354 and a 440 gross this year.... BTW the 440 bull is having his second scoring today... the drying period is over... I will let ya'll know what the result is .. I just love Elk and love seeing folks having success... I echo what kilowatt said... congrats to both
