Bookcliffs Roadless

I was told the other day by a friend of mine that the State was considering selling the entire Bookcliffs roadless area (Little Creek). The State land employee said that the State was not making enough revenue of from it and could make more selling it than if they held on to it for the next hundred years.
I am sure someone is in the know if so lets hear it, Maybee the boys at SFW know something. If it's a rumor great, if not we could be in trouble. This came from a State lands employee in southwest Utah.

hard to believe as the govt here is trying to buy up alot of these big ranches up. Government does not want to let go of our land, half the time they don't even want the public on it.

Maybe it true Maybe it not I'm sure the SFW will not want to lost a good deal of this ground to a large ranch, hope it isn't true But that is the way huge ranches are made,I'm sure someone will make into another CMWU if it turns out to be true..

The name that keeps coming up as a potential buyer proves true, no hunting will happen on the sold ground. Ted Turner of television fame and fortune keeps being named as the possible buyer. We all know Turner's view on hunting- "NO HUNTING". The other thing to remember is Turner now has land in Montana and is rumored to love the wolf reintoduction. Maybe his plan is to buy the ground and give us our first wolves, scary thought!

I have heard countless times that Ted Turner is antihunting. That is not true. Ted Turner is a hunter and his ranches are mostly hunted. The Flying D in Montana and Vermejo Park in New Mexico are examples.

Regardless of the buyer I hate to see public land sold. Especially land as priceless as the Bookcliffs Roadless area. People complain about access restrictions on public land that is wilderness or roadless. Well when it's sold to a wealthy individual you can forget about access of any kind.
