I hunt them with my bow.Thier eyesight is bad, but they do have good hearing and smell. The common shot I get at the pigs is 20 to 30 yards. Where did you put in for them?

Its not ussually hard to draw a javalina archery tag. Ive been drawn every year that ive put in.

I've shot tons of them over the years. As stated above, they have poor eyesight, good hearing, and one of the best noses around.

The hardest part of hunting them is locating the little rodents. Once you do that, you can get REALLY close to them if the wind stays true. I don't think I've ever shot one farther than 15 yards. The closest was about 3 yards!

In my opinion they were made for bowhunting. They are also a great animal to start a youngster on with a bow. Good luck and hope you have fun if drawn.

I went down and hunted them once. I had a blast, been trying to get away for another hunt. Like before stated, if you can locate them you should be able to sneek in on them. Pratice before you go, them little critters are hard to hit. I was lucky enough to get one be we had a hunter with us that could not hit one, shot all of his arrows and a few of mine. Good luck!

thanks fellas. i put in for unit 21 and 23 ive hunted both units in rifle hunts but wasnt able to locate any either time.

Can't add much to what's already been said. Their hearing is about the same as ours (most of us, that is), their eyesight is much worse, but their sense of smell is incredible. They are an absolute blast to hunt - especially spot and stalk. They're not a particularly difficult animal to stalk, but watch for the ones you can't see; they'll bust you every time.
