drop camp hunt colorado

Greetings,

I hate being a rookie, but here goes anyway. I know squat about hunting elk or colorado for that matter, but a friend and i want to make the trip this fall and hunt elk out west. We are experienced white tail hunters and outdoorsmen for what that's worth. I don't want a guide other than to drop us off in a remote area with a good , comfortable camp set up and give us the general lay of the land. Then check on us and pack out an elk or two if we'd happen to get lucky. I have no problem spending some money to make the hunt happen, I'm budgeting $2500 or so including airfare for myself and my buddy is planning on the same. My worst fear is I'll spend the money and be stuck in a woods full of blaze orange. Drop camp, trespass fee with cabins would be fine just limited access. I spoke with one outfitter and he seemed nice, but didn't get the best feeling about the solitude factor. A lake or drainage would be great also. I'm open to any advice/suggestions, horror stories, success stories anything anyone out there could contribute. thanks so much for any help.

Drop camps can go either way. Have heard the good the bad and the ugly. I work with a few outfitters that have drop camps that I would recommend. Send me an email, give me more information on what kind of hunt you want and list any health conditions that may impact the hunt. Also do you want a rifle or archery hunt? How many hunters in your group?
[email protected] is my email if you would like my help.
