Can anyone confirm that the application numbers by bonus points shown for any of the particular hunt codes are the final bonus points "after" the 2003 draw? If my 2004 application shows 8 bonus points for elk, then would this be the same as 8 bonus points shown for any of the elk hunts in the 2003 Utah Bonus Point Odd's Report? Thanks!

No. If you have 8 points in 2004, when you look on the 2003 odds you have to look at 7 bonus points that is the number you had then. I have 11 for elk now that is the most you can have at this point. If you look at the 2003 odds 10 is the most you could have. I hope this makes sense.

Yeh, 7 pts for the '03 Odds book. Unless one has max. pts., 11, going into the '04 draw, the odds are basically meaningless for '04 with the guidelines for splitting the tags up. Even using the overall applicants in any given LE unit/point pool would be counter productive for any type of 'guestimate' for anyones real odds of drawing. No one nows the tag alotments by weapon choice or unit yet, not even the biologists or DWR.

Go for the unit you have the most experience/knowledge in and know the best for quality and quantity and hope for the best in the draw and have the best oportunity to harvest ones elk.

Thanks Guys! Look's like 33% to 50% odd's for what I am putting in for based on the 2003 Odd's Report. If not this year, then next year looks like a lock.

huntnfool:

Does your app from this year that came in the mail actually say 11 points on it?

I thought that the apps said how many you had before going into the 2004 draw. You only get your point after you apply and are not successful. At least that's the way I've seen it.

This year should only be the 11th year of this new draw system as far as I know.

Cheers,
Pete

Yes it says 11 points. The bonus system started in 93...
93,94,95,96,97,98,99,2000,2001,2002,2003. this is actually the 12th year.
