Colorado Point Banking

Anyone hear any scuttle about weather or not Colorado is going to allow point banking again this year? Could effect the draws a lot.

Talked with an CO Outfitter yesterday and he said it was still in, yea right! Will see here in a few months.

I hope pt banking is gone for ever! It MAY have benefitted a few guys that loaded up with pref pts over the years but from the stats I've been looking at it has increased the number of pts its taken to draw lower pref pt units. This was supposed to help pt creep but in all reality it only made it tougher to draw the units that originally were fairly easy to draw!

I agree 100%, units that were under 2 points required jumped a point for the draw in a lot of places. Makes it hard to calculate draw odds for this year.

I'm guessing even though it took more to points to draw some units, it also decreased the number of hunters sitting around the top with close to max points since many of them drew tags loosing top end totals.

Anyone here know if Colorado has a matrix showing how many people are sitting on how many points.

If they committed to point banking for 5 years, it would help long term. I know there are lots of people like me that would burn points for several good tags and forego the primo tag that may never happen. i would trade my 13 points for 3-4 good archery hunts but the way it is now, If i did it once, I'd be behind the rest of my life.

Until they commit, I'll hunt other states, hunt Co. cows as a second choice and wait.

Califelkslayer is right. Even a few years of point banking would dramatically reduce the number of applicants with very high points, and bring the whole system back into alignment. While Jims is correct that the points required generally went up last year, this increase was not sustainable over even the short term. Lots of points were burned lsat year, including my deer points. I don't regret it a bit, but would choose to burn my 15 elk points if point banking were an option again this year.
My guess is that point banking will not be back in 2007, but will reappear again at a future date.
