I just heard a rumor today that a well known Outfitter from a certain Southwestern state that has been known for taking big bulls, was dicovered to have been bringing in Canadian game farm bulls in the 370-400 class and releasing them so he could charge $10,000-$12,000 a pop for them!
Think there's any truth to it?

i think that happens a lot on high fenced hunts. don't think it's supposed to be a big secret. elk farming is pretty big business. some of them will actually tranquilize a bull and score it and then put a price on it, so the guy knows exactly what he's getting and for what price. i know it seems "unethical" to most folks, but it ain't much different than what goes on in texas and other places on the "ranches" they have there. i don't know about what the legal process of bringing an elk in from canada is or anything. especially with all thie cwd scare going on. but i think what you're describing happens a lot. ain't my cup o' tea for sure. i'd rather shoot a wild hereford steer in some Arizona canyon. who is the guy, by the way? send me a private email if ya don't wanna broadcast it. hunting is sure turning into a commercialized deal for sure. soon it might be as bad as xmas.

I think that it's totally possible. Back in the 70's there was a guide who would release a cat shortly before the hunt started. Some how he knew exactly where to release his dogs.He was bringing the cats up from Mexico and keeping them caged until the hunt.

It's one thing to knowingly hunt "inside the wire" but this guy was advertising wild,free-ranging,fair-chase bulls!
The hunter probably stoked to death couldn't wait to enter it in the books.
I have been wondering when those canned animals would spill over into the record books!

if a guy knew for sure how much phony stuff was in the record books it'd probably make ya sick. look at the antlers these guys are growing on the whitetail with all that supplemental crap. most of those are eligible for the books too. i'm pretty sure i know the lion hunter you're talking about, meweldeer. all BS aside, he used to be a hell of a lion hunter too. just trying to make a buck i guess. he went to mexico and south america for years after that and caught a lot of jags. him and his "power" dogs. too bad he went to those extremes, because it pretty much ruined his reputation. anymore,i hunt for the hunt. the experience of being in the wild stuff with folks i care about. if a big one gets in the crosshairs, that's fine, but if i shoot a forkhorn toward the end of the season that's ok too. as long as i get to see my ol' man or my kids with a big grin. somethings gotta give tho. no sense having a record book full of pen raised stuff. when folks get to competing, which is what a lot of hunting has become, they will cheat. and when you put $$$$ in equation, they will cheat a lot.
