Giant Bull Elk Video question

In september I videoed a very large bull which ended up being harvested. The guide who was helping that hunter asked me to send him a copy of my footage so he could compile what little footage he had together with mine. He told me he would make me a DVD for home use. Well, it turns out that he ended up making a commercial video for retail which he is selling and me getting nothing for my footage and not even being listed in the credits. Most of the footage of the big bull in the video is mine! I willingly sent him the footage but had no idea this would happen. I think I am entitled to receive something from this video for use of my footage. What do you folks think? Please help! Any reply will be appreciated!

I would say that you have a very good case against him, however I am no attorney. If I were in your shoes, and had proof that it is your footage, I would consult an attorney.

I think theres proabbly no law (unless selling a video of you w/o your permission is illegal) saying he has to share with you, but still not very nieghborly of him not to give you credit or some money when he's making money on your hunt.

All i can say is 1)what area 2) what outfitter and 3) exact GPS coordinates of the drainage? Seems like spilling the beans is the least you can do in return.

You have is ass in a sack. Copyright law is very specific regarding your protection as the one who filmed the original footage. You had better have another copy.

One phone call from an attorney should get a check your way.
Don't settle for anything other than cash. I had a very similar thing happen to me on a photo that an outfitter ripped off to use in his add. That photo cost him 500 bucks and that was only because I let him off cheap.

Don't slander the unscupulous bastard until you get the cash.
Don't contact him again. Have an attorney make the call. Ask an attorney what his minimum is to make a request call on your behalf.

I was browsing a certain cite the other day and ran accross a pile of pictures from varios places on the net. I was going to ask the guy about them but havent gotten around to it. This site was for advertisement purposes. I don't know if he has permission from all those people but I would doubt if he does. A couple of them are "internet legends"... I may just have to make a little inquiry about a few of them. A few of the guys are on these boards from time to time.

So, over on the muley forum there is this "maniac" guy. He's always advertising for his lodge/inn using Kings pictures (on ebay and such). Is that illegal then??? Certainly false advertising if you ask me. I just laugh, but some people may be taken in by it??

Contact a lawyer you have him by the short hair. He must have written permission from you releasing the footage. If he does not you can sue. I would ask for cash and a free drop camp or hunting permission on a ranch he has access.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I will talk to an attorney on monday to give these clowns what they deserve. I will keep you guys posted. Yes I do have another copy of my footage, might have to come out with a video of my own and expose the TRUTH!

Have you confronted the oufitter first? I know a good lawyer! Just a question; but do you have to have your video copyrighted in order for him to get in trouble? Anyway it seems like a shady character that would do such a thing. There is no faster way to get the outfitters name out and run down than on MM! Just let us know how to get a hold of him and we can help. Keep us posted and let us know if you need any help
