So how big a bull can a guy pull outta the San Juan (Utah draw)? Just curious as I have a buddy with Max points and he's puttin in archery this year. Any experience in that country?

REMEMBER

THERE ARE NO 350 BULLS ON THE SAN JUAN!!!

THEY HAVE INCREASED TAG NUMBERS!!!

THERE ARE BETTER AREAS IF YOU HAVE MAX POINTS!!!

THERE ARE NO GUARANTEE'S ON SIZE,YOU CAN ONLY DO YOUR BEST!!!

THE ONLY bobcat LOOKING FOR A NICE 'RACK'!!!

They pulled a 400" bull out of there last year. 370" is very do-able. Plan on seeing lots of bulls on the downhill side. They need to give more tags and kill the bulls rather than let them die of old age.

OK, who's going to break the standoff? No big bulls, or too many super old bulls? :0)

IS there plenty of public land there? My buddy probably knows all this already, I'm just snoopin.

That is an incredible unit. Take your time and scout it out. The potential for a real pig is good. From what I have heard a lot of people have applied for that archery unit. Good luck if your buddy draws out! He wont be disapointed!

I just logged in as a member here because I had to reply to the message. I grew up in San Juan and if the military would take me back there I would go in a heart beat because of the size of bulls on the San Juan Elk Ridge area. If a person gets the priveledge of drawing a tag there, and they hunt smart and don't get trigger happy, they can definitely come home with a 370 or better bull.

After all those "dinker" bulls he's been shooting all these years with his bow, he's going to freak out when he sees how much of a disneyland it is down there :)

I think you can do a search for posts from BlandingBoy and see some pics of some great 380 or so archery bulls from a few years ago down there.

I think he and every one else may have left the Pahvant to me and only me during the archery season this year :)

Cheers,
Pete

Here's a link to some more pics from their website with a ton of bulls from San Juan.

I don't even know these guys, but they do have some monster bull pics from down there.

Pretty spectacular viewing if you ask me.

I had fun watching a 370+'ish bull whoop on a 300 bull just before muzzleloading deer season last year there. I hear you can buy tags for $10k - $25k...probably closer to $25k since there have been a couple of 400+ bulls taken there over the last couple years. Draw odds are very slim as you can imagine--might have an easier time drawing a sheep tag than it in some places.

Call Todd Black That his Website up above. But hey there is no BIG BULLS out there, Just a few 380's dinks so I would put in for a different area. Right LMAO. It a great place and it very huntable with or without a guide, I think hiring a guide will get you into more of the really big bulls but you can find a few really nice ones by yourself if you spend some time there. GOOD LUCK

I know two guys who bought tags down there for a video they were making a couple years ago. They ended up with a 400+ non-typ and a 380 6x6.
I gave up putting in there this year.

c3 Nice Bull, thanks for the website thats awesome.
good luck in Pahvant, my father-in-law has been down there last two years with Doyle moss. his first bull greened at 396 and had the state record, until the hobble CK. bull (416) later that year. this year he got 382 bull. I'll figure out how to send some pics. he is in screaming bulls 2. Hope you kill a big one.

sounds like they have a good chance at a biggun to me. My buddy and his buddy will stay the whole season and hunt hard, guaranteed. They've both killed lotsa bulls, so they ought to be able to make the most of it.

They wont be hiring an outfitter.....never, ever. Nor would I. As for 25000 for a tag......hahhhaaaaaaaaaahhhahahaa. No elk worth that, not for the reasons I hunt.
