Arizona antler growth

After watching the debates on MM about precip affecting antler growth, I haven't seen anything lately about April/May moisture. How's it looking for storms hitting the south rim to Flagstaff country this spring? Somehow, I have a feeling you're not going to tell me there will be banner antler growth for my late 9 tag. How 'bout the guy from Tusayan? Any updates?

It's dry in Northern Arizona. Some nice green up in certain spots like every Spring but nothing exceptional. There's been a few showers lately, and every drop will help. I have a feeling the units in Northern Arizona will suffer with antler growth this year. Still as everyone says, the big bulls will grow big and they will, just not as big...So far 06', and 07' have been bad to units 9 and 10. Last year it was dry in 9 and it was hard to find a good bull anywhere that wasn't broke or spindely. I'm thinking this year will shape out to about like last year, with maybe a slight improvement. Good Luck on your hunt, and in a couple months we'll be able to tell for sure how the antlers pan out..

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Maybe we'll get lucky with some good June/July rains. Doesn't hurt to hope I suppose. Should be a good time regardless.

Are you camping or staying in the local town- i think valle?

My brother was drawn(late hunt) and we've heard that last year ther were lots of broken horns.very frustating. I'm going to spend time up there after my Kaibab hunt(archery) to see the bulls condition, hopefully the rut will be on.
Arizona elk society is hauling water into 9 again this year and they are predicting another bad year.
Hopefully, even a smaller bull will still be great trophy for that area.
Are you going up to scout?

I'm not sure yet about scouting trips. I'll have to plan for that as it gets closer, and I find out about other draws, work, etc. I'm sure we'll camp. No maid service in the wall tent, but there's not many other places I'd rather spend time.
