I have heard of a recordbook elk taken last fall in Washington and cannot find much info about it, anybody have any leeds?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-23-04 AT 11:43PM (MST)[p]I saw it at the Sportsmans Show in Puyallup this year. It took 2 guys to carry it in. It is a f-ing monster. Was shot somewhere south and west of Cle Elum during early archery. That is all I know for sure. The guys were bringing it over to the show for the dude that shot it and they didnt know a whole hell of a lot about it.
Is this the one to which you are referring to?

There was also a bull taken in the Kapowsin Tree Farm last year that might be close to a new record.

Eric,This is the one I'm looking for. I heard the guy is from Ellensburg and I can't figure why the mistery of it all. At least you have a pic of the bull. Im hoping for more info on this bull. I was in E-burg last weekend and a guy told me bits of info he knew. The hunter's name might be Allen. (firstname)Thanks for reply. George

There was also a new state record muzzleloader bull killed. It is considered a Cascade elk as it was killed east of I-5 but still in Western Wa. I think it went around 360 which is pretty dang big for a Roosevelt. One of the main beams was >60 inches. It was a pig. I held that thing in my hand and could only dream of seeing a bull that big around here.

If you look down the page at the topic Truck load of elk. That bull was shot in Washington this year.

Look on Boone and Crocketts web page under Trophy watch, they might still have it on there. If not email them. Ya it was shot around cle elum. i guess it nets lik 423 or 416, i cant remember exactly. none the less its a monster, i love the brow tines.

A friend of mine from the WDFW was telling me that muzzleloader bull was shot around Rainier Timber Co. Property north of Enumclaw. The guy, supposedly, shot it off of his back porch.
I saw pictures of it at the Sportsmans Show and it too is a monster!

I saw the rack at the Spokane Bighorn Show. They guy's last name is Thorpej and he is from Ellensburg. It was preliminarily scored at 421+ net Non-typical. If that stands right there it would become the new #3 in the world non-typical. It is not very massive, but the tines are tremendously long.

I think I saw that monster but only had the spike tag. Was the biggest elk I've ever seen up close. I'm hunting along & hear a twig snap. I stop cuz I know it was something & not a bird or squirrel. The sucker walks by at about 20 yards. Maybe it wasn't the same one but it was with another 6 point & he made it look like a deer. Sure be nice to draw a bull permit.

Look on the RMEF web site... under the world record elk tour... this bull is mounted and on tour now.. the site says it is the new #1 Washington non typ archery elk and pending world record. net pending panel is 421 and change..... The are 2 bulls in Az that are also pending panel 1 is 429 and change and the other is 439 or 440 depending on which magazine you are looking at...bowhunter or hunting ill......

First I would like to say hello, I'm new to this site, but not new to hunting, this is an awesome site! I have a buddy that lives in Ellensburg and knows a bit about this bull, it was shot in the Peaches Ridge unit as far as I know, and is the pending Washington State Non-Typ. I will see if I can get some more info and maybe a better pick.

This is copied and pasted from the RMEF web site.

Great elk need great habitat!
The RMEF and its partners helped acquire 8,500 acres of Tieton River Canyon in Southeast Washington. The property, which is now under public ownership as part of the Asotin Creek Wildlife Area, provides recreational opportunities for sportsmen and is vital habitat for wintering elk, bighorn sheep, cougar, songbirds and salmon.

This is what they want.....
Show your bull in the Great Elk Tour
The RMEF?s Great Elk Tour is a world-class display full of world-class bull elk. Doug Tate (above) an RMEF member from Butte, Montana, hunts the kind of great elk that make the RMEF Elk Tour so special. If you have harvested or own a bull elk that is truly world-class, and you are interested in showing it in the Great Elk Tour, we would like to hear from you!

Monster sheds from wild elk

Pickups of big, wild bulls killed by natural causes

* We are not interested in replicas

All hunter-killed bulls and all sheds and pickups must be from wild, free-ranging elk, and must have been harvested or obtained in a legal, ethical, and sporting manner.

I am not trying to argue and was only trying to give some info were you could go to see some more pics of a great bull.

He got these done to take to the AZ Elk Society banquet last night.... The originals will be pannel scored by Boone & Crocket in May or June, and the at the P&Y convention April 2005...
