What do you all recommend for a good hunting boot during cold weather? I usually wear sorrels for cold snowy weather but they tend to get a little heavy plus moisture tends to build up from sweat I think. I want something lighter but warm and more of a hiking boot, not so bulky like a sorrel.

Take a look at some of the Danner or Rocky lines. Both make great products. I like the "Outfitter Series" That Cabela's sells. I think they are made by Danner. Good Luck!

I recently bought a pair of Rocky "Ranger" boots and ley me tell you they are extremly warm and light, but my feet aren't wet even though its in the upper 70's right now (breakin'em in right now)

Irish Setter, Best boots I've ever owned. I hunt Northern Canada in the snow and muskeg and they have never let me down. Light, comfortable, dry and warm. You couldn't give me a pair of Danners, the first and only pair I ever bought leaked from day one. Keeping your feet dry and warm in the areas I hunt is as important as good optics.

Just my .02 worth

I'll second the Irish Setters, I just wore the about soles off my last pair I had them for 5 hunting seasons probably put about 200 miles a year on them. New ones are on the way.

I have three other pairs of Irish Setters and love them all. I will never buy another pair of Danners agian, they started leaking about a year afer I bought them, and the soles started falling off, so I sent them into Danner to get them fixed, they said it was my fault that their crappy boots fell apart, but they fixed them for about $50 plus shipping. What a crock...

Then after wearing them for about two more months after I get them back they totaly come apart. I told the dealer about it, he contacted Danner, they said since they had fixed them before, they couldn't do anything for me... So I tell eveyone I know not to waist your money on a piss poor company that won't stand behind their product.

Speaking of standing behind their products. I just returned the Irish Setters that I had worn the soles off of. They were also starting to come apart at a couple of the seams, I took them to the dealer, he said that he would give me half of what the boot was purchased for, against a new pair of boots... Those boots were worn out... Try and see if Danner will do that for you. I bet they'll laugh in your face.

Buy Irish Setters you won't regret it, they are by far the most comfortable boot I have ever owened.

have had great luck with Rockys, had a pair for 2 seasons very satisfied except they developed a squeek that I could not get rid of,I sent them back to the factory telling them that I didn't want anything ,just sent them back so they could figure out what caused the squeek, month later I get a new pair of rocky's in the mail

I too own a pair of Rocky Pro Hunters. They are gortex and 100% waterproof. My feet have never gotten cold or wet. I heard the same story about the Danners, don't buy them.

I just bought a new pair of Rocky's, and I love them. I also have a pair of Danners that I were to work that I love, but Ive never used them for hunting......

I had the opposite experience of CLS. I had a pair of Irish Setter that split at the seams and were never rally that comfortable. However, I did own them a few years before I experienced the problems.

I know have Danners and so far think that they are great boots. Go figure?

Going on my fifth season with Wolverines, and they have been great so far. When I first got them, they seem like the did not even need to be broke in and I have huge flat feet. I hear nothing but good stuff about Rockys though.

Just purchased my second set of Danners. I have had great luck with them. I upgraded to the Trophy model. Set me back a few $$$'s but my feet appreciate it at the end of the day. Nemont
