Still gathering for info. on the North East region In UT. I have a deer tag for late Oct. and have never hunted the area. I know it is tough for deer, but any general info. on areas to start scouting would help. I live in AZ.
Thx

What kind of buck are you looking for? if you just want to see deer and shoot a forkie or small 3pt try the wildcat canyon area (the turnoff is about 2 miles past soldier creek and strawberry res. on the south side of the road and is marked) I took my sister up there on her first hunt. Just take the dirt road in a couple miles and GET OUT AND WALK. the area gets road hunted hard, but every time I have hiked around I have seen small bucks.
If you want something bigger there are other areas. I will be hunting this unit too and am getting some good tips for more remote, less crowded areas with a chance at a good buck. drop me a line if you want to talk more.

Andy,
I am interested in a quality buck. I have taken 4 days off prior tho the hunt in order to scout. I have very few leads with lots of research. I would rather come home (AZ) empty than shoot anything with antlers. It would be nice to shoot a 160 class buck but I think it will be very difficult. Any info. would help. I am willing to do the work if I could just get an idea of where to hunt. To me its obvious to hunt around the limit entry regions, but I know every one else will be there also. I prefer low pressure areas and using my optics to glass. Please reply if you can help. Good luck on your hunt.
thnx.
