gunnut,I know a few parts of the area,I hunted it last year during the first combined season,it was 84 degrees opening day- unit 35.The elk were all real high in the timber.Unit 35 has a wide variety of terrain ranging from sagebrush to aspen and dark timber patches. It is not extremly high in elevation,if i remember right, the highest area is castle peak at about 10,000 ft.I will be hunting black powder there in sept.I have not hunted the late season there but I have heard from locals that it is a real slaughterhouse there if you get good snow.I would concentrate west of horse mountain up high if there is no snow.Take the Wolcott exit and go north about 4-5 miles to 1st forest access on the left. I have drove into unit 36 which is east of hwy.131 and the unit seemed to be all black timber all the way through,I am not sure how to hunt that.Hope this helps some....jeff.
