In the July issue of Petersen's Hunting, Rick Jamison has an article about the various bonded bullets. He tested them into gelatin at 3000 and 2000 fps. The test was of 180 grain, 30 caliber. The Scirocco at high impact retained 79% of its weight, while the Nosler Accubond retained 61%. It is said that the Accubond is designed to perform similar to the Partition, so the 61% weight retention is similar to Partitions.
The article includes pictures of the expanded bullets and depth of penetration.
I would suspect that the 7mm 150 Scirocco and 160 Accubond would give similar results to their 30 caliber counterparts. Any of the bonded bullets appear good for elk.
The one that captures my attention is the Trophy Bonded Bearclaw, although its b.c. is lower, but that won't matter out to 300 yards. It is available to reloaders in 140, 160 and 175 gr in 7mm. Federal factory loads it in 7mag with the 160 gr Trophy Bonded.
