Just wondering how the antler growth is doing this year vs. last year on the boulders and dutton for elk? Is anyone finding any real nice trophies so far?

Can't answer about last year but this year I have seen some real nice bulls. About a month ago, I was already seeing quite a few six points. I have seen one bull that is exceptional and the good thing is, I have seen him twice. I am headed back down there this weekend, so can update you a little more.

Saw 6 bulls on the Dutton two weeks ago, two were going to be boomers! All were 6x6's. The vegatation looked green up there and the springs were still running. I imagine it should be better than average.

NTHERUT do you have a tag this year for the boulder? My freind has a rifle tag and we have been down also I was wondering if the antlers are a little more massive this year at this time comparing to last year with it having more moisture and a little cooler weather so far. I think both the dutton and the boulders should produce some nice bulls this year along with all the limited entry units I have heard nothing but good so far.

I actually have an archery tag for the Dutton. As compared to last year, I seen some big bulls on the Boulder last year, I had a turkey tag for the Boulders and we did see a lot of bulls between oak creek resivoir and deer creek resivoir and the main road. That was in May of last year. The horn growth looks excellent this year, it looks to be as good or even better this year and I think all the LE units will produce some toads. Good luck to your friend.

I've got to agree with bull antler growth this year. I've been videoing some FINE bulls in a NE UT LE unit. I don't have a tag, but I'm sure impressed with the growth this year. Deer seem to be doing good as well this year. I think it's going to be another banner year for trophy elk in UT.

I know its kind of off subject but I know the elk in central and the eastern central area of the state are alot better than last year. I think they did alot better in the tough winter than people expected they would.
