I drew the November bull hunt. 1st time on the Gila. My question for all those who are familiar with the unit, what can I expect? I have hunted in Unit 10 in Arizona, on the November hunt before. Would get up on the high points, glass, locate, and go. Bulls were alone or in bachelor groups. Can I expect the same in N.Mexico ? Some say that if there is snow that bulls come down on the flats. What if no snow, is the terrain such, that animals can be spotted with some dedicated glassing. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Woody

That would be a great start. There are some great look outs to glass from. Small bulls will be with the cows if the snow falls. They also will be in the flats. Larger bulls will be alone or in small groups. Larger bulls will probably not go far during daylight. They still need water every day. Lots of elk in unit. Had some buddies get that hunt last year. There was a hugh bull just south of Quemado - private land. They seen him daily in the headlights going out. Never seen any bulls - only cows. I don't think they tried very hard though.
