Stunned

Congrats you lucky Utard. Hey I heard the other day that some severe fire storms in unit 10 were pushing the elk into other units. Anyone else heard this?

I have not heard that, I live here in AZ and there is nothing I know about.. Congrats on the TAG, I would suspect that the LE tag in 10 is the most aought after tag in all of AZ ( Maybe the West )

My late 7M archery tag is pretty choice too...

Hull.... don't forget them videos.

Nunya,

There aren't any firestorms in unit 10.
unit 10 is a big unit with plenty of places for an elk to get real big. Congrats. A chance at a real world class bull.

Good Luck,

Mark

I honestly think a lot of people are going to be dissapointed. We have big elk but 350 bulls aren't as common as everybody thinks. Regardless, this will probably be your best opportunity. Nunya, do you know some guys in AZ that will be helping you out or are you getting a guide?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-04 AT 08:32AM (MST)[p] Me and two friends drew on a group application. We dont know anyone down there and will NOT be getting a guide.
The deal with the fires is just some dumb ##### that I work with being a smart a$$. He's mad cause I drew the tag but he never even put in. I know there are no fires atleast not right now.
As for you Lance (Maximuspussimus) You should try putting an application in if you would like to draw a permit. I guess you probably would if the wife would let you. It just sucks having a woman rule your life telling you what you can and cant do, dont ya think Lancer. Maybe if you start kissing back end right now she will let you have 5 dollars of her shopping money to put an Az. application in next year. I would invite you to come with us Lance but I know that the hunt falls on the same week you have dishes so you would'nt be able to go. But hey atleast she lets you watch the outdoor channel, if you rub her feet. Later Lance AKA maximusnoballsimus

Congrats Nunya. Rifle or Archery?
The Nov rifle hunt has 105 extra tags this tear because of the Non-Resident fiasco. Archery has 21.

Congrats Nunya, My wife had that early rifle tag last year too. Whoever said it's probably the most desired public land hunt out west is telling the truth. There are some really nice bulls throughout the unit but there definatley is not a 350 bull behind every juniper tree. I scouted my ass off last year and can count all the REALLY BIG bulls I saw on one hand. Many of the bulls had broken points so make sure you really look them over before you shoot.

I was fortunate enough to draw an archery cow tag in there this year. It was my second choice because I wanted to learn the unit better. The bull cow ration is very even. The most cows I ever saw with a single bull was 5. Usually it was about 50/50

One other thing, I never felt so much pressure to find a big bull as I did last year. Many people will say if you don't shoot a 375 bull you wasted your tag. That is nonsense! Enjoy yourselves and have a great hunt. There are some great bulls but you do have to earn them.

Happy Hunting

John

by the way nunya, what was your tag number that you drew? Just curious to find out if you were one of the lucky ones who got a supplemental tag.

Thanks
John

Huntazido, we were a group of 3 NR that drew early rifle. our permit #'s are 13, 14, 15 so the extra tags didnt help us. We had 0 points so we were/are pretty dumb founded that we pulled the tags especially with a group of 3. We are headed down in a couple weeks to scout around. Thanks..
