ok guys....this is my first time ever drawn for elk. My first choice was for BULL, but that got passed up. Got drawn for UNIT 10 COW for Oct 15th...any pointers on that unit? and any pointers on Cow Elk hunting?
Rifle Tag...

There are many cows throughout 10, I do not see a problem taking one. Get a map and find the power-line roads just north of Williams. Drive the roads and glass the fingers that lead to the flats or grass lands; you may even see antelope. The cows move back and forth to feed morning and evenings. Good luck.

Ask Hunterman67 where he hunts, then hunt somewhere else. He's had that cow tag for several years running and has yet to score... :) (Just yanking your chain Michael... ;-) )

Looks like Ridgedrifter gave you some good advice. It's a big unit, but like a lot of areas in AZ, you can many times catch them moving from the Pinons to the Ponderosa in the early mornings. Glass, glass, glass, and you'll find your cows.

Good luck!

For a cow hunt, I stay as far south and east as possible in that unit. (i.e. - Near Williams)

Hey Mikey!

Give me an email after the archery season and I'll let you know how I did. I have an archery cow tag in that unit and I should be able to help you. I have scouted that unit hard the last two years, my nephews had bull tags two years ago, and last year my wife drew and early bull tag. I will say, I never saw more than five cows together at one time. Usually, one or two cows per bull.
