I JUST PURCHASED A HOT LIPS COW CALL, #1 IT IS A PAIN IN THE *&^*% TO BLOW! AND THEN IM NOT TOO SURE OF SOUNDS IM GETTING. HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK WITH ONE OF THESE??
THANKS 231

Keep practicing. Try using just one side like you would any open reed call. Then start blowing it on the one side finishing to the other side. Don't blow both at the same time start to finish. Gotta start on one and finish on the other. Once you get it you'll love it. I can't wait to use it on some bulls this September.

In the new "EXTREME CALLING" CD by Steve Chappell he talks specifically how to blow the hot lips call. As I mentioned on another thread, this cd is as good as it gets. The call sequences are real hunt set ups. It will blow you away with how real these sound compared to elk. CDN

I just watched the Truth 7 and under the bonus features section they called in a bull with that call that you couldn't chase away. A good friend of mine swears buy it. I'm going to try it in Idaho this year. I let you know how it works.

Mine keeps hanging up when I try to get the oitch up. Do I need to trim the reed a little?

well Im getting it figured out now, I started using it upside down with the reeds on the bottom , and I like what Im getting out of it! when I had the reeds on the top, it tickeld my lipps and made my eyes water! when I was in High school I played a sax in band, which had the reed on the bottom, so mabe this is why it works better for me?
