Does anyone know anything about a big ranch in NW California called the Green Diamond. Roosevelt elk. Info please. cb

I am going with a friend that has a tag the first of Sept. Just hoping to get some info on the ranch and what to expect. Sounds like a pretty good hunt??

Cal, I know Jay would have info on that ranch. I havent heard of it but Jay's buddy who lives up there could give you good info..... Allen Taylor......

Yeah, I think Jamie lives in Oregon and this ranch is almost on the border. I think if I called Jay about a 'stinky elk' he would get a chuckle out of it. Thanks

Marble Mtn Elk? I have that tag! Been their and have a clue!
If you can hike even a litte(1.5 mile) you will see Elk! big bulls(so far 7 six point OR BIGGER,13-17 rag horns, countless spikes and cows! All 3-5 mi in Norcross,Haypress on the meadows even swimming in the lakes, the damedest thing I ever seen!(was 96 DEG)and they where diggin it!
I think they will also come down alot when it cools abit and rut kicks in! I am a big guy and the hiking was tame, mostly along the top of ridges and they are well marked!
Why the ranch if you don't mine me asking?
Jack

RACKMASTER,
I am going with a long time friend who I have guided in Utah for the past ten years. He won the hunt at an RMEF banquet and asked me to accompany him on the hunt as a guest to help him and to film with my son Kade.
He has sent maps and called the ranch Green Diamond. Is that the same as Marble Mtn??
He is an older gentleman that is not real mobile and I'm trying to get an idea of the amount and quality of bulls on this ranch. We have never hunted Roosevelts before.
The hunt starts Sept 1. Are you saying you have this same tag?? Thanks, cb

CB, My tag is hunt 415 marble mt! your tag is one of the
Del Norte county hunts I think! my season starts the 8th wensday.
The elk in the whole area are outstanding! I in the past seen some going 360"-380"!!(close to the road, theirs an ELK refuse there too ). The RMEF is promoing Nor Cals ELKS big time, they
are around alot and theirs a few hunts that been taped and seen
on ODLN! they are just around and are setting up more hunts I feel! Let us in on the story when your done and I will do the same! it will be great and fun and a life time hunt!
HOPE YOU GUYS GET A WOPPER!
Jack (Rackmaster)
ps, are you locals from CA?

I had they Del Norte hunt several years ago. It was held on the Simpson Timber Company Land. Some HUGE Roosevelts were taken on the hunt. Most of the guys that took the monsters knew loggers on the land and had good pre-season info. A lot of big bulls were over the property fence on Relam Redwood company land, and at the time were off-limits. I believe now the DelNorte hunt includes the Relam land. If I am not mistaken, I believe the Marble Mountains are Rocky Mountain elk. In either case, your in for an awesome hunt.... Gamekiller
