I have a friend that is hunting unit 34 this year with a guide. They had a cancelation and offered the trip to me. The cost is $3.5K with all fees included. I wanted to know if anyone is familar with this unit and what kind of success they had. Of course the outfitters promise the world, but I don't know anything about the area.. This is for archery. Thanks for the input...

It is a great unit. I assume that includes the landowner tag? If it does it is a pretty good price also as the tag itself is going for around $1500.

Who is the outfitter? I know a couple of the guys down there and might be able to give you some skinny on them.

If the 3.5K includes LO tag and license fee, then that is a good deal. If not, that about what most outfitters charge as a min for 5 day elk hunt.

Depends on what area of 34. I hunted there last year. Seen elk everyday. Had 6 differnet 350+ class bulls within 100 yards. Did not score but had a great hunt. I have a friend that gets a LO tag every year. Last year he arrowed a 380 bull and got it on video. 34 is a great area.

30inchbuck,

any particular areas you would like to mention? i will be hunting the muzzle loader season there this fall.

thanks,
jason

First LO tags are startng at $2,000 and $2,500 is very common, if this hunt includes the tag jump on it. Based on info from many hunters and guides I have spoken with who have hunted 34 it is great. Lots of elk, lots of buggling and big elk too.
