Is it just me or occasionally can you get a whiff of elk at work? Maybe i'm just starting to rut myself. My neck does feel bigger than this winter. Can't wait till the opener. Hunt on and carry a tall boy for celebration.

Kicks,

It aint just you my man. Unfortunately there are a herd of 'domestic elk' about a half mile from me and I can occasionally hear them tuning up this time of year. Can't sleep with that music going on. Gives me the wood.

I don't understand how you all can get so obsessed with this elk hunting thing. It's almost no different than any other time of the year. I spent the summer looking at all the nice skirts in and around home, making 1/2 serious jokes with my bachelor group buddies. That's starting to get old now, and I don't really enjoy spending every day with them. My head is getting itchy (must be the sunburn on the bald spot) - I know by the end of the month it'll be killing me. That spruce tree in the parking lot worked really good last year for rubbing all the dead skin off. End of August is always nice, because somehow when that temp starts to fall and night sets in an hour earlier, my other-half always starts toying with my mind with her cute little mews. The guys just won't leave me alone, always around the house, peeking in the windows and backyard. Christ, each year I've got to start yelling them off, maybe even a little fist fight or two. I hate doing that, but it does put that little sparkle in her eye, and then she tells her friends about it. And then those really cool Septemebr days set in. That's when I know she'll let me chase her around the house....
So really, what's up with this elk hunting obsession?

Too funny! You forgot to mention the fact that it drives her absolutely crazy when you come home covered in mud and have pissed all over yourself though!
