Anyone have information on the wolf population in the Lemhi region? We hunted 37&37A several years ago in September and saw wolf tracks several times. I know there were some nice bulls there but not sure what the wolf pop. has done since 2000. Any information on this unit would be most appreciated!

The locals claim wolves have eaten every elk in the unit but after talking with the F&G about herd numbers I went scouting early this summer and found a good number of elk.

I think overall herd numbers and bull cow ratios are good for 37A.

You still have good opportunity and a fair number of animals and the bag limit for wolves is substancial, I believe 2 a day something like that , but you might want to check your regs on that one .
Hope you have a good hunt.

37a doesn't see the hunter pressure other units in the Lemhi zone do. Yes there are still elk there so go tag one. Good luck and hunting.

The big bulls stay high and do not come down till you start getting snow they stay in the timber and feed only at night .

I have heard reports of wolves all over the Lemhi Zone but I will be up there with my Grandpa Hunting Elk this Monday so I'll report back if we see anything. I know the populations are down from scouting reports. I still think there are lots of elk, the problem is knowing where they are at.

Good luck
