Just a FYI, some posting were being made that the Boquillas ranch has locked the gates. So I decided to start calling and find out for myself. Game and Fish sent me to the Kingman office, they said yes its been locked up, call the tribe, we dont know really why or for how long if forever. I called the tribe and as of right now I am waiting for a call back from the gentlemen that knowes the answers!!
I really hope this is not true, and its locked up for some other reason other than no more hunting on the land. Its a prize ranch to hunt on!! Will keep you posted!

If so ---,hopefully only temporary, maybe because of "Wet Roads".When I was their in late June, for the "Annual" ranch cleanup, many gates had been locked,to force Visitors,to checkin at designated Sign In areas i.e. Picca Camp.Gates were still open in other areas, but many others/Cowboy Gates had been locked. We shall see ---

Guys, I was going to scout over Sept.1 holiday, and planned on scouting several different areas of the ranch. At this point I am looking at plan B. I have lots of maps of the area, but on none of them can I figure out the boundary of the Boquilla. Does anyone know how far east and north the boundary goes? I presume the west and south boundary goes from 66 to the Rez. Thanks for the help.. Gamekiller

JstMe,

How can they lock us out of the ranch being the property is checker-boarded with every other section being Arizona State Trust land, in other words belongs to the residents of Arizona??

Sounds like the Arizona Game & Fish is trying to take the easy way out just like they did on the USO fiasco.

I have a call into Tim Pender to see what his story is but he has yet to return my call.

They are allowed to lock any gates that are located on private land. Any gates on the state or any public land, leased or not, cannot be locked. As long as the access roads into that particular piece of country run through private land, they have every right to lock it up. I dont like this idea any more than you, but what can you do.

I have run into cases were a particular rancher has locked or wired shut a gate that is located on state land that they are leasing. One call to the Game and Fish and the rancher has to reopen the gate imediately or face the law.
