Rain effect on rutting and bugling

This is my first year archery hunting for elk during the rut. Looks like it is going to be rainy/showery for my 5 day hunt in eastern Oregon next week(15th-20th). What effect does this usually have on rutting activity? I know it will be nice cool weather to hunt in, but am not sure what it will do to bugling etc..

Thanks
Rick

Man I hope it gets the rut going. I was out last weekend and all I heard were two dumbasses walking through the forest squeezing their hoochie momma's ever 10 steps.

A guy on another forum said he was in a roadless area with all kinds of screaming elk (in eastern ore). But where I go there are no bugling bulls yet.

1st year huh... well I can tell you that it isnt like the video's. 2003 was my first year with a bow and I got a surprise when they didnt come running to my cow calls. Ended the season empty handed.

Good luck !!

My expectations are not real high. I have been hunting White River near where I live all season and have yet to hear or see an elk. Been getting away from the roads and have yet to see another hunter, the elk sign is pretty good for the area, but just can't get into them. So my dad and I are going over to Heppner where we used to rifle hunt. I have never been there during archery season, but I have a feeling that there may just be to many people for the elk to be real vocal. I do no some areas that always hold quite a few elk though so we will see.

I pray for that kind of weather during bow season. It should definatly help keep them active longer. We just got off a cold week and the bugling was the best it has been in years. Sometimes real nasty weather will slow them down, but if it clears after it's usually awesome. Good Luck

Last year in NM after a couple really good rains the bulls really got with the program, should be the same up there. Rain will just cool everything down and that should be enough to start them bugling and bunching up cows.
