Anybody Back From the Flattops Yet?

I'm heading up there for first rifle and was just curious if anybody is back from archery season yet with any stories.

Returned Wednesday. Lots of elk, and the rut appears to be really heating up. Also, appears to be an early fall. Got two small snow storms before Labor Day.

I'm heading up to area 25 Wednesday Sep. 15th for the early rifle cow elk hunt up there. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.
I back packed up in the Flattops twice this summer and each time I several hundred elk with many many large bulls.

What elevation were they at? I will be hunting in 23/24 and sure would like to know. I'll be hunting 2nd rifle. Can't wait !

mchunter, The elk have been up as high as you can go. This time of year I have seem them primarily in the timber pockets on the flattops. Also in the the drainages coming off the plateau. Get up high away from trails and roads and you'll see em. Good luck to you!
