Does anyone know what the Utah Non-typical state record score is? I can't find it anywhere. I'm hoping to post you the pictures of the new one tomorrow.

I have no idea what the record is but I will be waiting for a picture tomarrow. Congradulations if it's your bull.

Someone just called me and told me the record is 379 net. Mine should gross around 395 and net around 385. It was the funnest hunt of my life. I'll get you the picks tomorrow.

The Utah State Non-Typical nets well over 400". If I remember correctly, it scores right around 422 gross. I know the #2 bull is 418 2/8 gross, it was shot last year and the state record was shot two years ago by a guy Doyle Moss guided. (The guy forgot his gun, and his bullets at different times during the hunt).

THe state record typical nets 402 3/8 and grosses 416 and change.

Either way, cant wait to see your bull. Can you tell us where is Utah you got him. No specifics, but generally. I leave is two days for my Manit LE hunt. WOO HOO!!

I think your talking about the rifle record. Stay tuned, I'm trying to figure out how to post the pictures.

Tuff,

Sorry, I didn't read the rest of your e-mail. I got him on the Boulder unit. I went with the Boulder becasue I've been bowhunting it since I was 16 and know the unit quite well.

Good luck on your hunt. It was the most exciting hunt I've had in my life, and I've been hunting since I got my first BB gun at age 3.

Here are the pictures Dallen now you can fill us in on the Bull. Congrats on a great N.T. everyone's dream.

Thanks guys. Here's the story. We had actually worked in a a nice 6 x 6 early in the morning and got to within 50 yards. Kyle Paxman who I work with had volunteered to come along an call for me. I never realized how much easier it is to hunt elk with someone else doing the calling for you. Anyway, we got to with 50 yards of the bull mention above first thing the morning of the 11th. I couldn't get a clear shot, despite being withing 50 to 70 yards for a good 5 minutes. He finally got nervous and started to round up his cows and leave. Pax stopped him one last time broad side at about 50 yards. I knew I had to take the shot despite the fact that I only had about a 1' square window to shoot through. There was about a 4" long across the top of the window and when I aimed at the bull with my 50 yard pin, my 20 was right on the log. I deciede to try it anyway and sure enough I bagged the log. I'm going to go back and cut out that section of log and and errect a monument to it. Anyway needless to say that bull got away and we have that hunt on film.
The morning was pretty much shot so we decided to go and take a look at pond where I had seen 6 smaller bulls earlier in the hunt. On the way there a 25" buck ran across the road in front of us. At the same time a 325 class 6 point bull ran across in front of us in the opposite direction. The bull showed no sign of slowing down, so we decided to go after the buck since we figured he'd go to feeding once he hit the trees. Sure enough the buck was there when we got there, but he saw us at the same time we saw him. He bounded off, so Pax gave a couple of cow calls and immediately got a response a few hundred yards away. We got to the top of the ridge and I went ahead about 30 yards. Pax cow called again and we could tell he was on his way in. In under 30 seconds from that time he was on us. At 20 yards he started to go left around a little clump of trees. That's when I took the oportunity to draw. He decided not to go arount the trees, and instead came staright. I didn't want to shot hoping he would eventually turn broad side, but at 10 yards and closing I decided it was time to shot. The arrow penitrated almost the entire length in his throat lodging on the inside of his right shoulder. He went about 150 yards before he stacked up. Needless to say we were a coupld of happy hunters who had luck on our side.

Congrats to you on a great bull off the Boulders. I had heard about it from the biologist in that area this morning and I heard it was a slammer. I think the state record archery N/T was killed last year on Panguitch Lake and I think you might have broken that record. I killed a bull on the Dutton on 9/4/04 that grosses 372", I am very happy with that one also. Does anyone know what the state record archery typical is? I just got word from my buddy that he harvested a 6x6 bull that gross scores 393". I haven't seen pictures yet but as soon as I get them and he gives me the OK, I will post them. Congrats again on a great archery bull.

Much deserved congrats on a monster bull!
Thanks for posting such great pics and for telling the story!
Boy am I pumped for my hunt this year!

This is not the bull the biologist knows about. The one he is talking about is feeding in a field and running between the Boulder and Dutton. I had not heard of or seen this Bull prior to the day I shot it. There is another on the other side of the mountain that is a 400 class as well. I also missed another huge bull due entirely to an overdose of adreneline and a lack of brain function, but I really can't tell you what it was becasue of the above mentioned. I just know it was BIG! Looking forward to seeing your friends bull! The bull I shot is either a 8 x 8 or an 8 x 7. I'm not sure if one of his Rino points is going to score.

He told me that he had seen the bull in the back of your truck and told me it was a huge non-typ that was killed on the boulder. Congrats on a great bull.

That is an AWESOME bull!! I hope to find a bull near the caliber of that bull on my hunt this week. Congrats, sounded like you had a fun time!!

Congrats! Beautiful bull and a great story to go with it!

Did you get the great pleasure of quartering him out and packing him out on your back? Gotta love them sore hips!

He was kind enough to run the hundred yards out of the trees and go down on the edge of a flat. We were able to back the truck up to him and with the help of 6 other guys and a 4 wheeler ramp, we loaded him whole. That was quite a site in my short bed Chevy. I had a rough time staying on the road all the way home becasue I just liked the view in the rear view mirror so much!

Hey dub I just had my buddy come over and check out the picture of your bull because he hunts the boulder, and he thinks he has got a brown set off that bull from a couple years ago. I don't know if you are interested or not. but if you have any more pictures email them to me. at [email protected]. he says the set he has will go about 350 or 360. THought you might want them or just like to see them.

Wouldn't Kurt Delucero's Utah 390 4/8 net typical also be the non typical state record since there are 2 small points on the left side which when added would make it in the upper 390's net non-typical?
