UT Rut question

I was in an Eastern UT area all last week and spent every morning and night out listening and glassin ( I was just campin with the wife and kids, not hunting yet). I saw a few elk, but sure didn't hear much bugling going on like I expected to.

I attempted to drum up some response and did so.. though it ended up being a hunter (called him right in!) Sure wasn't hearing much and seeing much rut activity out there yet.

I traveled around to various places and climbed up on some higher ridges and passes.. no bugling. I sure thought they'd be in the mix of things by now. What are you seeing/hearing in other areas?

called in a 6x6 bull to 5 yards last night! They are a ruttin!

I called in the following bull to 32 yards the other night and let him have it. This was a Utah any bull unit hunt and the bulls were definatley rutting. This old bull let out a couple of bugles that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I can't wait to get after em! I guided my buddy in on a nice 4x buck this morning. Didn't work out as planned, but it was sure fun!

i have been hunting the north slope the last 3 weeks for elk
have heard elk bugling every day.
i would say right now if you don't hear any bugles in the am or pm the elk aren't there so move to a new location.
