Yolla Bolly Wilderness

I'm going to do some Blacktail scouting in the B and C zones next year. After doing a bit of research, I think I want to do some backpacking into the Yolla Bolly Wilderness area. I've never been there before and I'm wondering which direction I should approach the area.

I live in the East Bay area and was thinking I should try to find my way there from the East/I-5.

Anyone have recommendations on how best to get on the edge of the wilderness area, where it would be safe to park my truck for a few days?

Yep, safe as about anywhere. Try the Browns Camp or Ides Cove Trail Heads. Be prepared to see tons of people!

Ditto what Bomber said. When my family first came to Kali a person had most of the area to myself. When I was old enough to hunt deer, 1966, we went every year. Parents, children, grandpa and gramps brothers and many uncles. We had almost the run of the place. Many real nice deer taken but we also shot forks.
Now it seems like destination resort area. Way too many people and not just at the trail heads. There are other places to go without the huge numbers of hunters. Hint, the wild areas up by the Oregon border away from roads.

Dang. Sounds like I might have wasted money on the maps I already ordered. Thanks for the heads up.
