16 D New Mexico

I have a 16 D bull tag Oct. 9-13 and was wondering if anyone had been in the area to see what the bulls have been doing. I just finished a hunt in arizona (Area 10) and most the bulls haven't hit the rut yet. Was curious to see if that was the case there..

The elk were rutting pretty hard 2 weeks ago

My dad is up there hunting deer w/muzzle loader. He said the elk are not bugling and has seen a few bachelor groups still. Where you plan on hunting (high/low), foot/horses, etc. send me an e-mail. [email protected]

We had six tags in camp and filled all tags with bulls ranging from 320-360. One bear was also taken. One day they were rutting hard, the next day you would only hear a few bugles. Overall, the action was pretty hot!

Could you point me in a ggod direction to start my hunt in 16 D. I'm not really familiar with the area

Bumper, you are one lucky dog to draw 10 in Arizona and 16d in the Gila! Those are my dream hunts and you do both in the same year! How did you do in 10? I have a couple of preference points for Arizona and hope they won't be wasted. Maybe there will still be a chance for a person with average means to hunt there after all the fall out from USO's stupid lawsuit!
