Looking for some feedback on what type of tripod for a spotting scope you guys out there think is the best. Thanks.

Ditto what slamdunk said, Bogen's are top notch.

Definitely the Bogen, but it does get heavy packing it up and down the hills. Solid as a rock though.

There is no "best." Giotto, Gitzo, Bogan/Manfrotto all make top-notch tripods, if you buy from their top notch line-ups. You shold buy the one you need, you really cant go wrong with any of the three mentiond. Size and weight are the main factors. For hiking you need a small inexpensive unit (Slik or Velbon). If you using a rig you can get a better one. You need a good head as well. Get one that fits the scope. If its a roof prisom (straight) the pan tilt camera head might not work very well. Keep it in mind when buying a head.

If you plan to use it a lot by the best!

I think carbon is the way to go if you have the cash!

I use a cheep velbon for packing and one of three bogans (depending on what scope I use and what I'm doing).

For guiding, i use the Bogen 3221W tripod, with a 3130 head, attached to a Leica 66 scope. Again, it's a heavy setup, but rock solid in windy conditions. I don't carry it when hunting for myself, because i have a rifle to pack. In that case, a carbon or other lighter material would be a better choice. It's the weight of the Bogen that makes it work so well, plus it's unbelievably smooth to operate. Slamdunk

I also use a Bogen 3221 W with a Jim white head, but it is very heavy. Another good light one is the Velbon chaser, and what I do is take a cloth bag with a draw string along. When I get to where I want to glass if it's windy I fill the bag with rocks and hang it under my tripod "really works well!".
Here's a great tripod link for hunters also!

Good hunting

I have a bogen with pistol grip and love it but the BEST is the outdoorsmans that thing is pricey but awesome. I just didnt feel like spending the extra cash cause I needed a new rangefinder.
