Is there anyone that can recommend a good trespass fee hunt in Northwest Colorado. The only one I have heard of is Rocky Mountain Ranches. Has anybody used them and what do you think?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I used Rocky Mt Ranches out of Craig last year, The ranch that I hunted on was about 12 miles north west of Craig,it was about 18k acres mostly sage brush with lots of little hills and valleys, opening morning I positioned myself as high as I could get to watch for deer, by 10:30AM I had seen and passed on 6 buck's mostly fork's and one fair 4x4, I started hunting on foot thru the little valleys and jumped a decent 4x4, I snuck up on him where he was bedded and jumped 2 other bucks that I hadn't noticed that were bedded down between me and the target buck, they were nothing great so I let them wander off but the noise they made caused the buck that I was working to stand up , I put the scope on him at about 60yds and pulled the trigger, I'm still not sure why I shot him I wanted to hold out for a buck in the 24...26in range but the excitement got to me, so I settled for a 22in 4x4 that weighed well over 200lbs.If I remember correctly it was about $1200 for the landowner tag +the cost of the deer tag. All in all it was an OK hunt with lots of deer and plenty of land to roam, I think the guys name was Larry Bishop and he told us at the orientation meeting that most of the bucks on the ranch were in the 18 to 22inch range with the occashional 26 incher and that no hunter had hunted more than 3 days in the last 5 yrs to fill their tag, he was upfront and right on with his info. That was the first time I paid to hunt and the only reason that I did was because I couldn't draw a tag in any other state that year, hope this helps, Bill

Thanks Bill, We hunted between Pagoda and Hamilton near the Self and Seely ranches. It was only 500 acres plus some BLM land but 4 people was about all it could handle. My son and I got a 22" and a 24" 4x4 and saw a couple of 26" bucks but didn't get in on them. By the end of the third season it appeared that everyone that hunted around Craig and Meeker did great on Elk and Deer. Most vehicles had multiple racks in there rigs. My son and I had one of the best hunts of our lives. We are just looking for a bigger ranch.

Ive hunted with Rocky Mountain Ranches a couple years ago. Lots of deer, everyone in our group filled our tags, very honest, gives you the straight scoop about what to expect. I would recommend anyone to hunt with them because I will go back. They have good elk and antelope hunts too.
