I saw an awsome New Mexico bull on e-mail today. I assumed it would be out here today when I got home. Has anyone got pictures they can post? If I remember right, it went 404 typical.

nice bull!

Is that the Johnson Mesa rim in the background? I was in the VV last fall I know I saw a couple of bulls that were in the 380 range. Its hard to think that Northern NM can produce bulls like this. Interestingly enough, I have recently heard from guys that would know... that GMU2 had a couple of 375 class bulls running around this fall. Gila watch out......

A guy I work with commented that bulls harvested in New Mexico and or Arizona (home of big bulls on ranches), are often called into range (archery or otherwise), with the use of electronic calls. Is this true? If so, does this fit the description of fair chase? And what about animals shot on ranches? Is this public land, again fair chase?
Just some questions.

I cannot answer for New Mexico but Arizona is 95% public land.. 2 non typical pending world record archery bulls were taken last year on Public Land...and yes it was fair chase... I do not want to go on a rant but the comment (home of big bulls on ranches) when referring to Arizona ... got me a little fired up
Oh and nice bull... :)

I have never witnessed nor heard of anyone hunting with electronic game calls. I know they do sell electronic callls for varmints/predators but have yet to see anyone using one in the field.

Please, don't take this the wrong way. I only asked on this forum to seek information. No allegations were made on my part, and the co-worker only HEARD this. We don't think it is true. Don't get fired up. And yes, great/AWESOME bull. Just a question. Keep it cool!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-24-04 AT 11:22PM (MST)[p]Whacknpack: You need to learn the difference between "Game Ranches" which I believe you are referring to and that are generally not "fair chase" and "Ranches" which are usually very large, old cattle ranches that make up a large part of the private land out West and that also happen to support free range game animals like elk, mule deer, antelope, etc. Many of which now make a business out of selling hunts or access for those animals to suppliment the Ranches income.

Being informed is valuable and that's the nickel tour.
