Hornseeker, I see on one of your posts you mention the Beaverhead National Forest. Do you live in the area around there? Was just wondering I live in Beaverhead County.

I live over in the Bitterroot Woodman. I hunt mostly in the Beaverhead though. Where ya at?

I've hunted the Madisons, Beaverheads,Pioneers, Centennials, Pintlers, Gravellys, Rubys, Snowcrest and some other little mountains that dont really have names. I love all that country and have never had trouble finding elk.....killing them yeah, but not finding them!

Hornseeker, I am from Dillon, born and raised here. Our ancestors on my Moms side of the family were homesteaders in the Centenial valley, awesome county in the valley.I am like you see lots of elk just dont kill many. I appreciate your response and look forwad to hearing from you again. Woodman

Wow, i would sure like to "be From" that country. This year I planned on hunting high in the Cents opening day and Monday but got snowed out pretty bad. Ended up hoteling it in Dillon and hunted up Blacktail opening morn. Nothing. Anyhow, drove up that, oh, I think its the East Fork of Blacktail Creek, theres a trail head and there were 31 horse trailers at the trailhead.....DANG!

The next day we cruised around looking for a place to hunt nearby and we went up into Willow Creek on the Pioneer side and got into a few elk. you ever look around that country?

Good talkin to ya,

HS

Hornseeker, I have spent a lot of time up Birch creek and Willow creek both, killed my first Elk in the head of Birch creek. There are a bunch of high mtn. lakes in that area, we hike in and do some fishing up that way. That would have been the East fork trailhead you were reffering to. That place ia a zoo most of the season. There can be lots of Elk most of the bulls are rag heads. Great place to see Large bull Moose though. talk at you again Woodman

I liked that country. Saw a nice bull in the dark driving in one morning. Then we came back and put a wall tent up for 5 days. I passed on several cows, never saw a bull.

I sure love those big Mountain Mahogeny slopes up there in Willow.

Woodman,

Have you hunted much over by res. Lake on the idaho montana border? Lot's of people?
