Brad Phelps of the Colo Wildlife Comm announced
that he is resigning from the Comm as it expires
currently. Brad, of Gunnison[Parlin] was by far
the strongest advocate of ours states wildlife.
He has been supporting the limited draw for elk
in Gunnison and other areas of the state. He helped
support the limited draw for deer and now Gunnison
may be the best place in America for big bucks
on public land. Helped get 66 and 67 in Gunn go
draw for elk.Beleive me, if you want QUALITY in
Colo this sets us back a huge step. He said he
could no longer support the direction The state
is going because business interests were the
dominant factors in managing OUR wildlife. After
attending about 12 meetings in the past year in
Gunn,Montrose,Durango and GJ I agree with that
statement. Quality is lost and money interests rule
in our state. Roy in Montrose
statement.

Sad day indeed if he resigns. He was always thinking of ways to get our Youth involved in hunting as well as being just about the only Sportsmans voice on the Commission.

This is not good for either sportsmen or wildlife. Gunnison Basin has the best deer hunting in Colorado right now because of the restrictions that were implemented on hunting there. Brad was a strong backer of those restrictions from what I remember.
