Was thinkin about buyin some Wind River Cascade 10x42 binos. Anybody own a pair of these? What do you think of them or suggestions for other Binos in the same price range-$300 or less.

CHEVY, I LOOKED AT SEVERAL HIGH DOLLAR BRANDS/SETS. YOU COULD SPEND ALOT MORE AND NOT GET THIS KIND OF QUALITY. I, AND 4 OTHER OF MY HUNTIN BUDS WENT WITH 10 BY 42 CASCADES. GREAT EYE RELIEF FOR WHEN YOU GLASS ALL DAY, COMPACT/LIGHT/ EXTREMLY CRISP & CLEAR. HAD EM FOR 2 SEASONS NOW....LOVE EM. I THINK I WOULD BE A LITTLE TO CONCERNED CARRYING A $1000.00 DOLLAR SET ANYWAY. MY 2 CENTS. .... TAKE ER EASY, YD.

I'd suggest you look at least getting the Olympics if you're considering the Wind River line because the Cascades are not phase corrected. There's lots of other binos available for the same price range that are. Take a look at the Eagle Optics Platinum Ranger's, Alpen Apex, Minolta XP, etc.

Smith and Wesson actually marketed binos that are the exact same as the Alpen's, Minolta's, and WR Olympics, but are far cheaper. They're made by the same manufacturer and brand labeled. Here's a link to a NIB pair of 10x42 S&W's for $160.00 shipped. Pretty dang good deal on a good quality binocular. The S&W's carry a lifetime warranty also. I know the seller and he's a stand-up kinda guy....

I bought the 10x42 cascades and I love em. Used them all last season. I like that they are fairly light, and somewhat compact. Perfect for bow hunting.

It's a tough decision with all thats out there. I bought a pair of Zeiss Diafun's and I love em. The rubber eye cups are comfortable and are nice when glassing for long periods. I paid $240 shipped for my 10x30's and ive seen 8x30's for $215. If your still interested in the cascades, at www.natchezss.com they have cascade 10x42's for 229.00 and camo for 249.00. good luck
