Good Cow Elk Hunt

I am looking for a "good" cow elk hunt to give to my grandson for his birthday. He drew out on a public draw, and was very disappointed in the results. This would be for next year, however his birthday is in a couple of weeks, so I need to get it arranged now.
I am thinking that a good CWMU guided hunt is what we want. Since it is only me and him, and I am an old fart, it would need to be guided. I want it to be a positive experience, where he can see some animals, and get a shot.
Oh yeah......did I mention that I am on a budget, so something that won't break me would be nice.

Try calling Preston (417) 593 1775. He has left over cow tags for south eastern NM Cloudcroft area. Should be an easy hunt.

What does a NM Elk tag run? I'm looking for a cow elk hunt for later this year as well. Do you know when the seasons are? Are these guided hunts with Preston, semi-guided or DYI?
