I'm considering applying for this unit for le elk. I know it is about half private property. I'm curious if the elk are ever on the public land and if it is possible to get a 300 inch bull? thanks - Brian

I had a friend who drew diamond mt a few years ago... hunted the whole hunt and shot a 260 bull ... he said he didnt see anything bigger..but seen a lot in this size range. If you have 9 points or more I wouldnt waste them on this unit.

with 6 years i would not. put in for another 6 and get a 380+ bull. you will be much happier

With six points I would not apply for this unit. Yes it is possible to get a 300 class bull but with six points I would look to another unit that will give you better quality bulls and better success rate for larger bulls. You can still do this with out putting in for the high sought after tags that will give you a good chance at a 360+ bull.
If you want, send me an email and I will give you my number to discuss units more. [email protected]

I have a buddy the hunted out there, and he has been out there a few times during the Deer hunts. Our family and friends used to be excited about this area, but with the results it has produced, we think it's on the down hill side of things. I wouldn't use your points on it, I'd go for one of the better units in the state.... that goes for Deer and Elk.
