Anyone familiar with this area and willing to share tips?
Planning ahead for my first elk hunt in fall of '06. Thinking this area since I have a personal contact in the area that may open the door to private ground, and I'm a flatlander and the elevation isn't as wicked.

OK. Figured on doing that if there was any reports of big'uns in that quadrant of the state, and if 2 pref. points per species will let me.

I have a book of the biggest deer and elk taken over the years in Colorado.
Las Animas is in there quite a bit for deer, lions as well.
